Gem Lore

Humanity has always had a fascination with nature and her creations. Throughout the ages we have sought out her rarest and most beautiful treasures. This search was not fueled solely by aesthetics, and the value humanity placed on precious stones can transcend coin. The religion and beliefs of our ancestors could elevate a fossil above a diamond, or make an old slab of granite signal the fall of a country. These traditions often live on in folklore long after the culture that espoused them have faded into history.

By examining these bits of folklore, we begin to understand more about the people who generated them. Even if you do not subscribe to these cultural remnants, it is not hard to understand how one could believe that to possess a gem you possessed a bit of magic. Sometimes their very hopes and dreams could be found set into a ring on their finger, or in the hole of a bead strung about their neck.

It is for this reason House of Dubhrós presents the following bits of folklore collected from manuscripts and pulled form whispered stories.
