Star Garnet Amulet

This star garnet was hand cut from material collected in Idaho. This natural gem is one of the rarest forms of garnet, and will display a star under bright light. Unlike star sapphires and rubies the star in a garnet has only only four rays.

The stone is hand set in antler collected in Smoky Mountains of Appalachia, using a special compound that is almost invisible during the day, but will glow bright blue after being exposed to sunlight.

Instead of a modern bail this pendant has waxed cotton cord woven through dual piercings at the top of the amulet. Variations of this method have been found in ancient jewelry across the globe, and are still in use in some hunter and gather societies.
