Dinosaur Bone Amulet

Agatization is a form of petrification where the organic material is replaced with chalcedony leaving a material that is much harder than most fossils and sometimes displays vivid agate hues. This cab was cut from old stock agatized dinosaur bone acquired at an estate sale, that is believed to have been collected in Utah sometime in the 1920s or 1930s. Unlike the common gray material that comes out of China, this cabochon is a kaleidoscope of colors.

The cab is set in antler ethically sourced from the Smoky Mountains of Appalachia, using a special compound that is almost invisible to the naked eye but glows brightly after it is exposed to sunlight. It is finished with a recycled stainless steel bail, and comes on a waxed cotton necklace with a stainless steel clasp.
