Little Ragged Joe

Location: 100 N Church St, Mountain City, TN 37683. Corner of Church St.and Main St. In the South West corner of the Food Country Parking lot.

One of the interesting things about Mountain City is how art seems to grow from any flat surface. In spite of its uniqueness, this does not seem out of place in this magical town of artists and musicians. This waterfall scene was panted on the back of the bulletin board on Main Street.

This appears to be a historical marker for a sign that once stood on this corner before the Veteran's Memorial Clock and surrounding landscaping. On the other side of the painting can be found a small plaque dedicated to Joe Blackburn. A World War 1 veteran who opened Blackburn's Supermarket, the first store of its kind in the area, and the predecessor to the modern Food Country that now stands in its place. He also invested and revitalized many businesses in Mountain City including Michaels Department Store.
