Butler House

309 North Church Street, Mountain City, TN

Congressman Roderick R. Butler built this Mansion around 1871. It was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1973. Butler was an interesting fellow; it is known that he was responsible for renaming Taylorsville “Mountain City” but his motivations are a point of discussion for local historians.

This is a private residence and is only included here due to its status as a national landmark. Please do not disturb the owners.
